A cowardly act!!!

Here, I am talking about myself and I call myself a coward.
It was early morning, just before dawn, a few days back, when I was witness to a senior citizen being hit and abused by a young boy. I feel guilty and am ashamed of myself, because I did not do anything about this incident that happened in front of my very own eyes.
They say, you should walk the talk and I believe I failed!!!!
I do not understand, what stopped me from helping this stranger from being beaten and abused. Was I scared that if I help this man, I would be attacked? Was I waiting for other people on the streets to save the senior citizen? Was I afraid, that if I made an official complaint, I would have to spend a lot of time in the aftermath interrogation?
If I made a mistake (which I do not want to repeat next time), I urge the people out there to take action when an incident like this takes place in front of you. I know, it is tough and it is easier said than done. But please do not just stand there and look at a tamasha because you will linger in guilt for the rest of your lives.
Probably, I can make people aware about the rights of senior citizens through radio and through my blog, but the remorse of not doing anything, will always remain throughout my life.
“There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” – as said by Elie Wiesel
Lastly, a message to the youth and the kids of today. Please respect the senior citizens of your society and the world. Do not let your anger and frustration wipe away the principles, ethics and values that you are brought up with.

Well itz great to see that you highlighted this issue. Even i have faced the same situation many a times in whih i took action in 90 percent cases .i am happy that someone thinks so much at least. I tell you one incident i was going to delhi by bus there was a girl seating on very next seat and there were some bunch of college guys who came for some trip in a jaipur was goign back to delhi. These guys they try to misbehaved with that girl in bus because they were around 2 boys togther so no-one in bus was daring to stand against them. i was feeling angry to see that and even i was feeling that what can be done to help her? I said to myself that if i try to oppose them they will beat me and nothing will work out. Luckly i had some Police patroling number whihc runs on highway. Somewhere when bus stopped at some dhabha . From there i made a call to police informed them all about whats going on in bus and gave them bus number and location. They broadcasted the message to all the braches which comes in way of delhi to jaipur . the bus was near Manesar at that time. Luckily in 30 minutes or so around three police vens came or rescue they stopped the bus. and than they called me and asked me all about the incident. those guys were sweating like hell because they knew wat they have done ? than police asked to that gurl too about this and finally a FIR was written and those guys were arreseted and police took those jerks with them.
and i really felt myelsf top of the world that time. I felt yeah i did something in my life. And i was happy about it. And still my approach towards the life and towards the society will be same. I will do whatever possible i can to help people who need help.

And, i am happy that this incident touched your soul. Keep it up Mearl. vJ is with you .
